2022 Porsche Taycan GTS Sedan And Taycan GTS Sport Turismo Unveiled

The introduction of the 2022 Porsche Taycan GTS Sedan and Taycan GTS Sport Turismo EVs expand the maker’s electric car lineup by two. According to Porsche, the pair join the Taycan, Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo, and Taycan Turbo S trim levels, fitting in between the 4S and the Turbo.

Porsche has used the GTS badge before to delineate a curated blend of performance and luxury. The new Taycan trims follow the theme, the Taycan GTS sedan borrowing from the Taycan Turbo and the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo from the Taycan Cross Turismo wagon. Crucially, the new Taycan GTS Sport Turismo shares the Cross Turismo’s body layout and glass roof but forgoes the raised ride height and visual cues that hint at its all-weather, all-road capability. Furthermore, it shares its ride height and most of its visual cues with the Sedan.

2022 Taycan GTS Powertrain and Performance

The Taycan GTS Sedan and Sport Turismo utilize the same front and rear permanent magnet motors and a two-speed rear transmission. The motors have a combined output of 490 horsepower. Both new GTS models use an 800-volt architecture and a standard 93.4-kWh battery, the same as the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S. The battery can charge from 5-80% in 22.5 minutes, according to Porsche. Porsche has not stated a range for the GTS models yet, but the 2021 Taycan Turbo with the same “Performance Battery Plus” is rated by the EPA at 212 miles. Additionally, Porsche states the Taycan GTS Sedan and Sport Turismo can make the run from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

The suspension and performance hardware is the same as the Taycan Turbo S but utilizes unique GTS calibration and tuning. Red brake calipers (six-piston in front, four-piston in rear) grab rotors upsized from the 4S (15.35 inches up from 14.1 in front). Ceramic and tungsten-carbide-coated brake upgrades are available. The artificially generated “Porsche Electric Sport Sound” has been deepened and louder for GTS. In addition, numerous performance enhancements are available, including adaptive air suspension, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, and the Sport Chrono Package.

Design and Features

While the GTS models share many features and design elements with the top-tier Taycan Turbo and Turbo S, the GTS uses the SportDesign front fascia and side skirts and has high-gloss black side window trim and a high-gloss black rear diffuser inlay. The body wears GTS logos on the sides and the rear. Satin black 20-inch Taycan Turbo S Aero Design wheels are standard. The Matrix PDLS Plus headlights wear a black tint, and the outside mirrors are body-colored on top, black on the bottom.

The new Taycan Sport Turismo offers optional roof rails and provisions for mounting a Tequipment bike rack on the vehicle’s rear.

A Race-Tex interior package dresses the cabin, and the interior trim finish is brushed black aluminum with black accents. In addition, buyers can choose to upgrade the interior with the GTS Interior Package to get deviated stitching, GTS embroidery, the Sport Chrono instrument dial, and the Porsche logo on the floor mats.

The 2022 Porsche Taycan GTS Sedan starts at $132,750, and the Sport Turismo starts at $134,350, both including a $1,350 destination charge. Interested customers can order GTS models now, and deliveries commence in the second quarter of 2022.
